If you do not shop at the Dollar Tree you should give it a try. Dollar tree is ideal for families living paycheck to paycheck as well as families wanting to save money. We shop at the dollar tree a lot, especially when the sales at Kroger and Meijer’s have been terrible.
I recently read that the Dollar Tree is working with their distributors to create smaller sized items that are designed to last people paycheck to paycheck. In the same article it stated that Dollar Tree is starting to intrude on Wal-Mart’s sales. Wal-Mart ignored Dollar Tree for a long time but now is realizing that the Dollar Tree is on to something. You will begin to see more $1 products at Wal-Mart. These products will be smaller in size and designed to last a person until their next pay check.
There is a difference between Dollar General, Family Dollar and Dollar Tree. Dollar Tree is the only place that everything is $1!
They change their merchandise a lot and you never know what new product they may be carrying.
Below are a list of my families favorites -
· Laundry detergent
· Fabric softener sheets and liquid
· Automatic dish detergent
· Sandwich bags
· Chips
· Cookies (we love Bud’s cookies!)
· Hawaiian Punch juice boxes
· Cereal
· Pop tarts
· Hair products
· Kids shampoo, soap, detangler (we love this)
· To-go Coffee cups (retail for close to$4 bucks and are only $1)
· Some dollar trees have an awesome frozen food section
· Razors, deodorant, soap, body wash, hand soap
· Cleaning supplies out the WAZOO
· I could go on and on…
Some of the items are brand name while others are off brand. We have always been pleased with the quality. We are not afraid to try new things and a label is just a label.
The dollar tree does have a few negatives. They do not take coupons and they do not sale bread or milk (at least the ones in my area do not)
I do not recommend buying toilet paper or paper towels. It has nothing to do with quality. You can get these cheaper at Wal-Mart. Also don’t buy candy bars, gum, candy, etc (Candy is usually on sale for $.50 - $.89)
So the next time you are at the store about to pick up deodorant for $1.99 ask yourself “Can I get this cheaper at the Dollar Tree?”
Here is their website http://www.dollartree.com/home.jsp. You can shop online and have it shipped to your local store for FREE!!
